Every Field Honest story starts with a real account or verifiable source material: our own experience, an experience shared by a friend or contributor, a reader submission, or reporting grounded in primary sources.
From account to article
The desk may interview the source, review supplied notes or photographs, remove repetition, reorder events for clarity, and rewrite the language in the Field Honest style. That editing is meant to make a non-writer’s experience readable without changing what happened or what the person learned.
Bylines and privacy
Field Hunter is a house byline for narratives developed and edited by the Field Honest desk. First-person voice belongs to the source perspective behind the story. A source may be named, use a pseudonym, or remain anonymous; identifying details may be changed when privacy or safety requires it.
Verification
Claims about current laws, seasons, access, public safety, food handling, or product specifications are checked against current primary sources when they materially affect the story. The publisher remains responsible for what appears on Field Honest and corrects material errors.
